Granta Stam (dam line 81 - breeding family 183)

Our Granta's are from dam line 081, breeding family 183 This line has its origins in 1910 with the first registered mare of this breeding family the 1.64 m high black mare Anda of the stallion Motor Now this line is among the top 50 of the mare strains with the highest breeding values , from a total number of dam lines of more than 2000, and that both in dressage and in jumping. There are a total of 6 dam lines, including the Granta's, who are among the best 50 in both dressage and jumping. This shows that the breeding value of this dam line is very high and is firmly anchored. De Paardenkrant Extra has published an article about this.

Our introduction to this mare line starts with the purchase of Elgranta in 1987. We then had a horse in the stable with a strong will of its own and a great character. Elgranta grew up to a very beautiful three-year-old mare and quickly became a Ster on the inspection. After completing a good IBOP test, she became Keur. Elgranta already became Preferent on the first three mare foals. When the PROK certificate was introduced by the KWPN, we had her "X-ray" and she was named Elite. This preference gave rise to our preference (= affetto) for the Grantas

Elgranta is therefore a preferent elite mare of the famous stallion Akteur from Ugranta, who has Odd Job as father. The mother of Ugranta is the crown preferent mare Gigranta, who has the stallion Cigrant as a father. The mother of Cigrant is the crown preferent mare Figranta from Ligranta I whose father is Emigrant, here comes the addition "granta"

Ugranta (bred by the well-known breeder Huub van Helvoirt from Rosmalen) comes from the crown preferent Gigranta (by Cigrant). Then the line goes through the star mare Brika (by Utopia), the core crown preferent Kida (by Frank), Florida (by Ot van Wittenstein), the core mare Helga (by Domburg), Diana (by Evagore) and Brika (by Hedon Marguis) back on the Gelderse mare Anda (by Motor). The KWPN stallions Obrecht, Boston, Dublin and Iron and the younger generation of stallions such as Breezer (by Johnson) PSG / Inter, the DWB stallion Mantovani (by, Quatro B) ZZ-L and the Oldenburg stallion Guido  (v, Voltaire) 1.40m spr, come from this line  The stallion Hamilton (by Tangeloo v / d Zuuthoeve) approved for the Irish studbook (WSI), the AES approved Velini (by Cheers Cassini) 1.60m spr and also the young KWPN stallion Gino (v. Biscayo) 1.35m spr are from this mare line.

The crown preferent Gigranta brought in the line of her star preference daughter Jigranta (by Amor) in 1999 the champion of the 2-year-olds at the CK Drenthe, namely Paxgranta by Reini Tewis. Odigranta (by Appelonios xx), third of her group, star. D.C. Vergeer from Zeyen bred with this line. Odigranta has the star mare Digranta (by Roemer) as mother. She is again a daughter of the ster preferente mare Zigranta (by Pretendent). Jigranta is Zigranta's mother

The mother of Gigranta is Brika, descendant of the stallion Utopia (L'Invasion x Inina pref. Kern). Brika gave birth to four offspring, three of which were Kroon, Kroon Pref. and Keur obtained

Gigranta's father Cigrant, bred by Van der Willigen, comes from the very successful core crown preferent breeding mare Figranta (by Nubert). Figranta comes from the mare Ligranta whose father is the stallion Emigrant, who in turn descends from the Hackney stallion Alethorpe Admiral with the influential Hackney stallion Lord Bardolph as father.

Figranta Kern Kroon Preferent

Two sons from Figranta have been approved:

  • Brigadier (chestnut, v. Normann, born 1960). A famous Brigadier descendant is the legendary Ginerfa (ster pref. Prest.). Her daughter Derma (by Rigoletto) is the grandmother of the stallion Faram (by Aram) and the great-grandmother of the stallions Armstrong (by G. Ramiro Z.) and his brother Rolando, who was sold to the USA in 1992 ). Daughter Imanda brought Marius together with the dutch harness horse stallion Hoogheid. Other well-known Brigadier daughters are Hastrona (dam of the stallion Bustron) and Hiene (dam of the stallion Ordonnans).
  • Cigrant (chestnut, v. Wachtmeester, 1961). Cigrant became champion at the stallion inspection. Via Cigrant's daughter Geolineke we end up at the KWPN stallion Havel (by Cocktail)

In addition to stallions, the short-tailed mare Figranta also produced good mares:

  • Ifria (by Reclame) produced the stallion Mentor (by Romburg). Ifria was a very modern Gelderse mare with a lot of neck and a striking shoulder. Nini III (Helmar x Nubert x Honno x Mentor) carries Mentor's blood three times. She brought 2 approved sons (Dirigent and Grossier) in combination with Wachtmeester and Amor and her daughters Bini, Hini and Sini are in turn registered as mothers of approved sons or international sport horses (as Octaaf, Navigator). The stallions Columbus and Ginus come from this line).
  • Otellanta (by Graaf van Wittenstein): as a 2 year old this mare became champion at the central inspection.
  • Wigranta (star mare, by Karolus van Wittenstein) produced the mare Tigranta by Marius (by Highness). Her star daughter, the Video descendant Dianta, is the mother of Kimanta. Wigranta also produced the BWP stallion Karim (by Artillieur (SF)).

For two years in a row, Figranta and her daughter Ifria became champions in the category of two-horse harness horses. Both mares were real harness horses, horses with withers, a beautiful neck and good legs. They were excelent movers. Figranta died at the age of 27 at Stal van der Willigen.
